About
Barbara Lexa " Musikerin, Komponistin & Jodelpädagogin
Barbara Lexa was born in 1967 in Upper Bavaria and grew up in a family steeped in music. From an early age, she performed on stage with her mother, singing and yodeling—laying the foundation for a lifelong artistic journey. She went on to study guitar and piano, and by the age of 14, she had joined a plucked string ensemble, where she played guitar for six years. This was followed by twelve years as a keyboardist and bass guitarist in various bands focusing on Bavarian dialect, Schlager, and oldies.
In 2001, Barbara launched her first solo cabaret show in Bavarian dialect. For the next seven years, she toured successfully with her popular "one-woman shows," known for their tongue-twisting wordplay and witty musical humor. In 2009, the duo project "MundARTissimo" was born, created in collaboration with Rupert Frank. The two performed across Bavaria until 2015.
As early as 2012, Barbara began teaching yodeling alongside her stage performances. After stepping away from the spotlight in 2015, she dedicated herself fully to these yodeling workshops. During this period, she also created her widely appreciated JODELMANTRAS and Bavarian-language mantras, which resonated with many.
In 2020, global developments and health-related challenges prompted a longer artistic hiatus. Barbara returned in 2022 with a new album featuring original songs in German, titled "Lass uns endlich Licht machen" ("Let Us Finally Bring Light")—a hopeful and heartfelt new beginning.
After a further three years of creative pause, a new path revealed itself: "Canta festiva" – singing festive songs at funeral services. This led to the creation of a new, eponymous album, featuring 15 traditional melodies from various countries, offering comfort and peace in times of farewell.
