Welcome to Mundartdelta.

Mundartdelta is the musical project of Dietmar “Dietz” Forisch – singer, guitarist, songwriter, and storyteller. For more than fifty years, he has been making music, writing original songs, and performing live. For over three decades, he has lived at the confluence of the Inn and Salzach rivers, a place where cultures, dialects, and musical traditions naturally meet and merge.

This unique region forms the heart of Mundartdelta. Situated between Bavaria and Austria, the area has long been shaped by the flow of people, stories, and sounds throughout the Alpine world. These influences continue to find their way into Dietz Forisch’s songs. His language and musical identity reflect both the character of this border region and his own family roots. Raised in a Silesian household where Bavarian was never spoken, he developed his distinctive dialect through friendships, football fields, and everyday life in his hometown of Mühldorf.

His passion for songwriting began in the 1970s. Friends and fellow musicians Arthur Dittlmann and Pit Holzapfel played a key role in those formative years. Together they wrote lyrics, improvised, and played the blues whenever and wherever they could. Those early collaborations laid the foundation for a lifelong journey as a guitarist and songwriter.

Musically, Mundartdelta blends Southern German dialect with the rich traditions of American roots music, folk, and blues. The songs tell stories of ordinary people, everyday encounters, and observations of a rapidly changing world. Sometimes reflective, sometimes humorous, but always authentic and heartfelt.
