About

Arthur Dittlmann (*1958 in Burghausen, Germany) is a journalist, author, musician, and passionate storyteller in both sound and language. After studying theology and German literature in Munich, he began working for Bayerischer Rundfunk in the late 1980s, where he is still active today as a feature author and presenter. Since 2020, he has been hosting the Saturday edition of Obacht! Tradimix on BR Heimat.

Musically, he was shaped from an early age by the blues as well as Bavarian folk music. In the 1970s he co-founded the band Schnabufugl, later followed by projects such as the Permanente Bluesmaschin. His music combines wordplay, sharp observation, and a distinctive blend of blues, Bavarian grooves, and poetic imagination.

Dittlmann has released several albums, including Dreiviertelte, Blaue, Zammazupfte (2000), Best of Arthur Dittlmann (2015), and The Very Best of Arthur Dittlmann (2018). In recent years, new songs such as Schienenersatzverkehr and Wanderbaustellenblues have continued his tradition of witty, rhythmically charged reflections on everyday life.

Since 2024, together with his longtime companion Dietz Forisch, he has been performing as Arthur & Dietz, reviving the spirit of earlier days with concerts that move between nostalgic humor and up-to-date commentary.

Whether on the radio, on stage, or in the studio – Arthur Dittlmann always moves between tradition and modernity, seriousness and grotesque, blues and Bavarian wordplay.
