Canta Festiva
Description
Barbara Lexa – Returning to New Paths with Canta festiva
After a long musical journey that spanned Bavarian musical cabaret, yodel mantras, and touching original compositions, Barbara Lexa is now opening a new chapter: with the album Canta festiva, the musician from Upper Bavaria presents a collection of 15 heartfelt songs especially suited for memorial services and quiet moments of farewell.
The songs—traditional folk melodies from Bavaria, Germany, England, Brazil, and the United States—come from centuries of musical heritage. In her simple yet deeply moving interpretations with vocals and guitar, Barbara Lexa breathes new depth into these timeless tunes. “I recorded these songs just the way I sing them live in church—pure, personal, and full of emotion,” she says of her approach.
Barbara Lexa first became known for her successful stage performances in Bavarian dialect as well as her pioneering work in yodel instruction and yodel mantras. With Canta festiva, she now reveals a new facet of her artistic expression: quiet music that offers comfort and opens a space for personal reflection.
“I deliberately chose not to include any of my own compositions on this album,” says Lexa. “To me, these songs are already complete and timelessly beautiful—they need no additions. They carry comfort and warmth within them, which is exactly what many people seek in times of parting.”
Canta festiva is more than just an album—it’s a musical companion for moments of silence, a heartfelt expression of empathy, and a dignified contribution to the musical shaping of farewells.
