Wai, Marcator’s latest production, is probably the most radical and extraordinary work in his musical career. He does away with melody and rhythm and concentrates only on sound. This ambient music is created with unusual instruments: On the one hand it comes from electronic sources, primarily IOS apps, and on the other it consists of ethnic percussion, gongs, bowls, monochord and guitaret. Two music- and sound therapists, Jürgen Breuninger and Ute Dubbeldam, support him in the creation of the sounds. Additional ‘field recordings’ of a prolonged stay in Southeast Asia in the winter of 2016 let the music become a visionary journey in a dream. ‘Wai’ is the tradional Thai greeting with palms pressed together in a prayer-like fashion.
