Description
A musical journey through Munich in the 1960s
With “Neuhausen Blues”, Munich blues veteran Schorsch Hampel presents a deeply personal and atmospheric audio drama. Across eight episodes, he looks back on the formative years of a boy growing up in the modest, middle-class surroundings of Munich’s Neuhausen district between 1963 and 1970 – between school days, life on the streets and one overriding passion: music.
The story focuses on the years from age ten to seventeen. As young Conny changes, society around him is changing too. Rock ’n’ roll, beat music and blues become the soundtrack to growing up. Autobiographical memories, period-style news reports, historical documents, sounds and music merge into a vivid acoustic panorama.
The narration is carried by Richard Oehmann and Angelika Stampfer, while Arthur Dittlmann appears in different roles as commentator and contemporary witness. Mary Reich adds further period atmosphere with the “hits of the year”.
Text, music and sound design were created by Schorsch Hampel. Dr. Will handled the music production, with Jochen Scheffter responsible for mixing and mastering.
“Neuhausen Blues” is more than an audio drama: it is an acoustic time capsule, a piece of Munich cultural history and a highly personal look at growing up to the rhythm of a changing world.
