Twenty years after the original release of Secrets of Seduction, Enigmatic Obsession returns with a brand-new studio album, composed, produced and mixed by Jens Gad between 2025 and 2026. Featuring twelve newly written tracks, the album continues the sonic universe Gad established after his formative years as co-producer of Enigma, expanding it with renewed depth, elegance and emotional resonance.
Inspired by the mystical legacy of the Byzantine Empire — the ancient crossroads of East and West, spirit and empire — the album unfolds like a meditative reflection on transcendence, memory and impermanence. From the fading light of Rome, Byzantium once emerged as a sacred mirror of heaven and earth, cloaked in incense, gold and silence. This imagery informs the album’s atmosphere: timeless, ceremonial and quietly powerful.
Musically, Enigmatic Obsession is rooted in ambient, ethno and chill-out genres, shaped by subtle beats, flowing textures and organic arrangements. Acoustic instruments such as flutes, guitars and piano intertwine with filtered vocals, classical chants and Spanish-language elements. Gregorian-inspired harmonies, ethereal voices and seamless transitions evoke the unmistakable Enigma aesthetic, while maintaining a contemporary, refined production approach.
Following the recent remix and reissue of the 2005 debut album, this new release marks a significant creative chapter for Enigmatic Obsession. Released on Prudence, a label that also hosts projects such as Achillea and Jens Gad presents, the album reaffirms Gad’s artistic continuity and relevance more than two decades after the project’s inception.
