About

Spreewaldkrimi is a German crime film series starring Christian Redl as Inspector Thorsten Krüger, which has been broadcast on ZDF as a "TV movie of the week" since 2006.

Filming takes place at the original locations in the Spreewald. The series picks up on regional characteristics. Since the first film was well received by audiences and critics, the station decided to make it a film series.

The film music for the first 13 episodes was composed and produced by Ulrich Reuter, but for the 14th episode Ralf Wienrich is responsible for the film music. Be it a documentary about people in Bangladesh, a quirky comedy by Detlev Buck, a big city drama by Matti Geschonneck or a mystical thriller by Kai Wessel, it is precisely the diversity of genres that Ralf Wienrich always feels challenged by. Classically trained in composition and piano at the "Franz Liszt" Academy of Music in Weimar, he was subsequently drawn to the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy to pursue additional studies with Oscar winner Cong Su. His search for unusual sound concepts led to collaborations with artists as diverse as Till Brönner, Markus Stockhausen and Giovanni Weiss on film scores for solo instrument, chamber ensemble or jazz quartet, up to and including large symphony orchestra. Ralf Wienrich lives in Leipzig and is a member of the German Film Academy.
