About

Kompositionen mit emotionaler Tiefe

Jens Grötzschel is an award-winning composer whose music shapes international film and television productions. His credits include the US thriller The Super starring Val Kilmer, the poignant German-Belgian drama Ramstein – Das durchstoßene Herz (nominated for the German Television Award), as well as multiple award-winning documentaries such as Being Kosher and Afghanen flirten nicht. The drama An einem Tag im September, featuring Burkhard Klaußner and Jean-Yves Berteloot, won the Golden Nymph Award for Best Film at the 64th Festival de Télévision de Monte-Carlo.

Raised in Karl-Marx-Stadt, Grötzschel discovered his passion for music at an early age. At nine, he began guitar lessons and soon started writing his first compositions. After attending the Schloss Belvedere Music High School, he studied at the FRANZ LISZT University of Music in Weimar, performed in several bands, and eventually found his true calling in film scoring. This path led him to the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, where he studied under renowned mentors such as Academy Award winner Cong Su and John Allison Campbell.

His compositions blend emotional depth with narrative precision—sometimes unconventional and delicate, sometimes classically inspired, energetic, and full of tension. Whether drama, thriller, or international co-production, Jens Grötzschel is always in search of a distinctive sound that authentically enhances every story. He lives and works in Berlin.
