Albert C. Humphrey was born in the ghettos of Los Angeles/USA in 1951. He was one of nine children, he served honorably in the US army from 1969-1972, was stationed in West Germany, thereafter he returned to USA and majored in International Public Relations at Pasadena City College in California. He returned to Germany in 1974 and after being inspired by musicians such as Robert Johnson, Sunny Terry & Brownie Mc Ghee, Big Joe Turner and other great Blues men, Albert C. Humphrey began his career as a Blues singer and founded “Albert C. Humphrey and His Backyard Bluesband” in 1977. In 1982 his first Blues LP “Albert C. Humphrey - Live” was released (PTA Records) and he began to act in various German television shows. In 1986 his second Blues LP “Countryboy” was released (Merz Records) and he performed as the “warm up act” for Jose Feleciano on his German concert tour. In 1989 he recorded with Angela Brown and Christian Christl the Boogie- and Blues-CD “Breath Taking Boogie Shaking” (Acoustic Music Records). In 1991 he began as director and solist of the St. Lukas Church Choir Munich. In 1996 the first gospel CD “We’ve come this far by faith” with Albert C. Humphrey and gospelchoir St. Lukas (Spice Records). In 1998 he produced with the St. Lukas Gospelchoir the second gospel CD “People get ready” (Spice Records). Albert C. Humphrey founded his Blues trio “Albert C. Humphrey and His Roots of Blues” in 1998 and German Television produced a documentary film with the title “Either you run or you fight” about the life of Albert C. Humphrey. In 1999 he founded his own gospelchoir “Albert C. Humphrey and His Voices of Gospel”. In 2000 Albert C. Humphrey created his own record label “Humphrey Records” and produced “Changing times”, his first Jazz CD, and his third gospel CD “He’s the light” with Albert C. Humphrey and His Voices of Gospel. In 2001 the German television produced a second documentary film about the artist Albert C. Humphrey with the title “Dosier 24”. In 2002 he produced his Blues CD “Going back in time” with Albert C. Humphrey and His Roots of Blues under Humphrey Records. In 2004 he produced his fourth gospel CD “Praise” with Albert C. Humphrey and His Voices of Gospel under Humphrey Records. In 2013 he produced his Blues CD “Suitcase full of Blues” with a new formation of “Albert C. Humphrey and His Roots of Blues” (BSC Music). With the support of Nate Johnson (Chicago) as producer, Albert C. Humphrey recorded in 2014 his excellent and remarkable second Swing Jazz CD “For someone special” in studios in Spain and Germany. The CD “For someone special” will be released in July 2015 by BSC Music and distributed by Warner Music and Rough Trade.
