He is one of the true pioneers of... New Instrumental Music. Since the early 80s Austrian multi-instrumentalist Gandalf (he plays acoustic and electric guitars, Charango, Balaphon, Bouzouki, piano, various synthesizers and keyboards, as well as a range of percussion instruments) has internationally gained a reputation as a magician of soulful sounds and as an outstanding creator of melodies.
Gandalf re-releases a masterpiece from the Mid-Nineties: “Colours Of The Earth”, which comes complete with a beautiful and lovingly detailed new artwork, is a real classic of the NIM genre. Gandalf himself has vivid memories of the time of it’s creation:
“When I first travelled to the USA in summer of 1993, I was deeply impressed by the beautiful landscapes and gorgeous nature monuments of the Southwest. After I had returned to my home, I spent the next couple of months in the studio recording new music with all those marvellous pictures on my mind, enchanted by the ‘Colours Of The Earth’!”

Gandalf veröffentlicht nun ein Meisterwerk aus den 90er Jahren wieder – mit neuem, so prächtig wie liebevoll gestaltetem Artwork. „Colours Of The Earth“ ist ein echter Klassiker der modernen Instrumentalmusik. Gandalf selbst erinnert sich lebhaft an die Entstehung des Albums:
„Bei meiner ersten Amerikareise im Sommer 1993 war ich von der wunderbaren Landschaft und den großartigen Nationalparks im Südwesten der USA tief beeindruckt. Zurück in Europa zog ich mich sofort für mehrere Monate ins Studio zurück – denn ich musste all die großartigen Bilder unbedingt in Musik übersetzen. Ich war geradezu verzaubert von den ‚Farben der Erde’!“
Die elf Tracks dieses zeitlosen Juwels der Instrumentalmusik strahlen in ihrer sinfonischen Pracht heute genau so farbenfroh wie bei der Erstveröffentlichung 1994!... [
