Artist portrait of O.S.T. Die Schatzinsel

In 1966, a four-part TV series entitled "Die Schatzinsel" ("Treasure Island") and based on the famous novel by Robert Louis Stevenson fascinated millions of European spectators. Today the series is regarded a milestone in European television history, and for many people it is one of their favourite memories from this era.

The soundtrack to "Die Schatzinsel" was provided by the Prague based composers Jan Hanus and Lubos Sloka. Stunned by the beauty of the music the two musicians had created, tv-producer Walter Ulbrich used parts of it also for his next two tv-series, "Tom Sawyer" (based on the novel by Mark Twain) and "Lederstrumpf" (based on James Fenimore Coopers "The Leatherstocking Tales").

The CD is accompanied by a full colour, 28-page booklet containing background stories, biographies of the composers, an interview with Jan Hanus and around 50 stills from the movie. The total running time of this Original Soundtrack CD is 74 minutes.
