The
opening tune "Poetry" surprises with a rare treat in the work of this
important instrumental composer: A female lead-vocal in Japanese. With
its delicate asiatic flavour this track has an accessibility which is
very rare in the oeuvre of this thoughtful European composer. But "Pink,
Blue & Amber" in a whole is one of the most harmonic and peaceful albums
with the vast back catalogue of this important sound painter
and still it has all the depth, originality and uniqueness, which connoisseurs
of advanced contemporary music all around the world love Roedelius for.
The self confessed "sound-painter" Roedelius
has created ten pieces, which sound as warm, organic and still light
and transparent as none of his creations before. During the recording
sessions in London and Vienna the international line up (incl. vocalist
Yuko Matsuzaki, Dominique Greenberg, Felix Jay, Nicola Alesini, Fabio
Capanni, Gini Ball, Tony Morley and the longtime Roedelius-collaborator
Eric Spitzer-Marlyn) under the direction of Roedelius played as if they
all would share the same mind and soul.
With "Pink, Blue & Amber", Roedelius,
who has been one of the spiritual and artistic mentors of todays flourishing
Ambient-scene, once again proves himself a composer with an unmistakable
artistic and personal aura.
