Michael Holm and Kristian Schultze have always shared a liking for imaginary trips to distant places and ages. In fact this has been one of the reliable constants in the ever changing, multifaceted cosmos of Cusco Ð from putting the Indian folk music of the Andes in a new sonic context (on "Apurimac") to timetravelling back to the mythology of the ancient world (for "Ring Of the Dolphins").
With their new masterpiece "Ancient Journeys" the two masterminds of that globally successfull New-Instrumental-group once again indulge in their love for the old ages. This time the great explorers, whose breathtakingly audacious trips laid the foundations for modern civilization, sciences and the Age of Enlightenment, have inspired the creativity of the two composers.
Ever since the beginnings of Cusco more than twenty years ago, the totally unique combination of the gentle, meditative qualities of New Age music with a positive pop-appeal and an astonishing rhythmic variety has been one of the groups greatest assets. On tracks such as "Da Gama", "Land Of The Midnight Sun" or "The Crusades" Holm and Schultze prove themselves great melodic inventors, who brilliantly know how to shape their compositions and make them catchy. Like its 17 predecessors "Ancient Journeys" will excite the huge Cusco following around the globe!
