     The Romanian / Italian group CAFFÈ CONCERTO STRAUSS, founded 1990 in Cesena, Italy are a homogenious ensemble of excellently educated virtuoso musicians – each of the orchestras eight members combines a deep musicality with academically based historical knowledge of the fin de siecle era. Their tours have led the eight virtuosos right across Europe, and they have also charmed audiences in Nigeria with their deeply European music.
     Of course this excellent little orchestra has an artistic reach that surpasses the oeuvre of Johann Strauss junior by far. Its repertory is as varied as those of the vintage turn-of-the-century-ensembles: ouvertures and whole symphonies, selections from operas and operettas, medleys of folk songs and romances, and traditional dances (grand waltz of vienna, English grand waltz, polkas, quadrilles) but also sidesteps into symphonic jazz and music hall have a place in the musical library of CAFFÈ CONCERTO STRAUSS. All that comes together in a refined but easily accessible group sound which makes "Momenti Musicali" an irresistible musical gem.
