Innerself, USA - March 1994 Blonker is a group composed of one man - Dieter Geike - who plays every instrument on this album. "Tree Of Life" is a mixture of classical, jazz, Spanish flamence and a blend of rhythms that are marvelous. Blonker plays with feeling and in listening to "The River Flows", I found upbeat, jazz, funky and classical strains throughout the different titles. I really enjoyed this album and hats off to the one man band. The Gathering Alternative, USA June 1993 Gentle, guitar-lead melodies characterize the music of Blonker. All the songs on The Tree Of Life are composed and played by German-born Dieter Geike. Hios impressive techique moves effortlessly between electric, acoustic and Spanish guitar stlyes. The musi has its roots firmly planted in jazz and melodic rock. Geike's added New Age sensitivity makes this a most charming release. Los Angeles Post, USA - January 1994 Soothing, smooth, and solid describe the sound of Blonker, aka Dieter Geike of Hamburg, Germany. His diverse fretwork encompasses a wide range of stringed instruments, laid ober a background of bass, drums and keyboard. Geike has been performing in Germany since the early '70s, and this is his U.S. debut. |
