Information on album
After searching for the musical roots of her native Mexico on her previous album, "A Separate Reality", Alquimia goes in search of the musical traditions of her adopted country, the United Kingdom, on her album "Angaelic Voices." The term "Angaelic", invented by Alquimia, aims to combine the Gaelic and Ango-Saxon traditions with the symbolism of the Christian choir of angels.
Singing in languages including Gaelic, Latin, English and Catalan, she also uses her voice to create multi-layered choirs of complex harmonies, textures and counterpoints. Alquimia combines songs such as "Angaelica" and "Maghera" in a traditional folk-rooted secular style with others, like "Laude Mysterium" Santé Morla" and "Stella Mundis" in Latin and Gaelic, reminiscent of church music.
