For 40 years now, German TV-series  „Raumpatrouille – die phantastischen  Abenteuer des Raumschiffs Orion“ („Space Patrol – the Fantastic Adventures of Spaceship Orion“) has been hailed as a true classic of the Science Fiction genre – and also its soundtrack is regarded a cult classic. The colourful and innovative arrangements and  extraordinary melodies of composer Peter Thomas surprised the listeners with  their wealth of hitherto unheard sounds – the music became an instant hit. Luckily everybody involved realized that this soundtrack was a real masterpiece – and thus it was issued as an LP simultaneously with the first TV airing of the “Space Patrol”-series in 1966 – not a common thing in the music industry in those day
